“The commitment of my church members is changing”
03-12-2020

These unsettling circumstances are undoubtedly not without consequence. Over the periods of various lockdowns we’ve seen, for most churches, a steady decrease in viewership of the services. We’ve heard from many people about a decrease in commitment to the church and we understand how this can happen. With being a church online we know this presents a huge challenge in involving your congregation and keeping them committed.
We see this in our user statistics as well. Especially after the summer break we’ve seen a development in our statistics which can only be explained by the fact that more people are attending church service intermittently over the month instead of weekly. In validating giving behaviour and especially reasons why people ended ongoing donations, we’ve noticed that the less people experience giving, the more likely they are to stop donations. Therefore we would urge you to involve your congregation more through giving, by having a clear giving moment in which the whole congregation can participate. With congregations attending more irregularly it is vitally important to engage them when they are there. Especially given the situation in which you can build less on their commitment.
This is a key element of our Four Week Guidance program, we work with you to find the best way to have a giving moment in all circumstances and build some commitment to giving within your congregation.
