How givers use the Givt app to give
4 november 2021

A key element of really answering to the needs of the givers of your church is to understand what you, as a church, are offering in terms of ways to give. In this post we’ve listed the different ways to give, and given you examples of how and when to implement these options. We hope to inspire you to implement whichever way of giving suits you!
Have you downloaded the app yourself? Get familiar with what you are offering to your church members. Download here.
Giving via the beacon
Situation: At your location, during a communal giving moment.
Example: Invite people to join the collection moment during the service.
Advantages: The movement that symbolises giving money stays intact. The moment of giving is the same for everyone. This is the closest to the traditional collection. In our experience givers feel most involved in the moment using this method.
How it works: Choose the amount you want to give, select ‘Next’, and then select ‘Collection device’. Move your smartphone near the collection device in one simple movement. When the smartphone picks up the Bluetooth signal emitted from the beacon that is placed in the collection device, your donation is made.

Giving via QR code
Situation: Anywhere, anytime
Example: One of ‘our’ churches has printed their QR code on stickers and handed it out to all church members. The church members all put the sticker on their Bible and now have the QR code available to them at any time. (This also gives a reminder to give when they see their Bible.)
Advantages: This is the most versatile option. You can use QR codes in your handouts, bulletin board, or project it on a screen during the service. You can even use the QR code online, in your emails, during live-streams, and on your website.
How it works: Choose the amount you want to give, select ‘Next’, select ‘QR code. Now, aim well … Scan the QR code and your donation has been made! The Givt app recognises the QR code and knows who you want to donate to.

Giving via the list
Situation: Anywhere, anytime. Most commonly when people are in the comfort of their own home.
Example: The only thing needed to receive donations via this passive way is that people are aware of the option. You can let them know via your newsletter for example.
Advantages: No need for anything on your side. Users of the app can do this at their own convenience. They just have to know that they can give using Givt.
How it works: Select a goal from the list, choose the amount you want to give, choose ‘Next’, choose ‘List: select a goal from the list’. Select the goal you want to donate to, and your donation has been made!
Giving via location
Situation: At your location, anytime
Example: Put our sticker at the entrance of your venue, or put it on your bulletin board. This way people easily recognise that this option is available.
Advantages: No queues, everyone can give from where they are.
How it works: Choose the amount you want to give, select ‘Next’, then select ‘Location’. Confirm your location and your donation has been made!
The app will recognise your location via a GPS signal.
