Offerings in a hybrid church
Balancing in-person worship and being an online church
Times have changed, being a hybrid church is the new normal. Churches overcame lots of challenges: How do we serve the members of the church who listen in from home? How can we stream a church service? How do we do the collection? And most importantly: how do we maintain togetherness at a time when your community needs it most?
At Givt, we focus on giving, offerings, donations. Whatever you call it, we want our users to be able to participate, to give in ANY situation, including socially-distanced and online services. We want people to be able to give, but we want them to do so safely. For this we have introduced giving based on location to sit alongside our other means, meaning your donors have one solution for all giving.

At Givt our mission is that you are always ready to give. Whether you are in the church building or attending the service from home! Giving is more than a financial transaction, giving is connecting. Giving unites, even at a distance. A remote collection, therefore, not only limits the financial downsides of the current situation, but provides your church members with an opportunity to connect remotely. Your church can follow in real time how many people gave, so that this information can also be shared in the stream enhancing the sense of participation. This way you can continue to give together, even during a pandemic!

We ensure that you can use our solution immediately after registration. For giving on location, you will receive a location beacon, to support the GPS signal indoors. For giving from home you will receive a unique QR code for people to scan and easily give to your church. Your church can also be found in the list of churches in the app. In this way, someone without a QR code can simply give during the service. Finally, we will help you by providing promotional materials to inform the church members about how Givt works.

The user will open the Givt app, select how much they want to give and then press the “Location” button. The app will pick up the GPS signal or the signal from a beacon and recognise that they are in your church. The user is asked to confirm they want to give to your church and the app confirms to them that the donation has been made so there are no misunderstandings.
Using the phone’s GPS signal, the app will know where the giver is and who to donate the money to. We will also provide you with a beacon to place in your church building. This sends a signal to the app to help to confirm what church the donors are in.

What makes Givt’s QR codes so suitable for remote church services? Many churches that use our donation solution while streaming a service use the QR code for this. We listed all the ins and outs of the QR code.
When using Givt, it’s very easy to enable Gift Aid. No more filling out forms and collecting all donations by the end of the tax year. Givers can claim an extra 25p for every £1 they give to charity or church without any extra costs.
You can find a video here that you can use during the live stream. The video simply explains how the collection works now that you are not gathering together. Use the video wherever you want, during your online gathering, on your website or, for example, in an email. Good luck!
As you have already read on this page, you as an organisation can follow live how the collection is progressing. You can see the number of people participating in the collection and how much has been given in total.
We’ll contact you to make sure your church is ready to receive donations this weekend.
If you want to give to your church or charity, simply download the app in Google Play or on the App Store, select the amount you want to give and find them in the app.
