Tip: Communication about the collection

In the previous tip, we explained the importance of information during the service. In this tip, we want to continue on the importance of information, but outside the service.
Announcing
We have learned from several churches that the church bulletin is an excellent medium for communicating directly with church members. Many churches choose to already share the collection goal of upcoming services with members and visitors. This ensures that people who attend services are prepared. Especially if there is a special collection you want to draw extra attention to, it is good to communicate this before the service.
Results
To close the information circle and thus the perception of ‘the giver’, it is good to share the results of a collection. This can be primarily how much was raised, but much more importantly, what the money raised was used for and what it achieved. Research shows that someone who gives looks back on the gift-giving with more satisfaction if feedback is given on what difference their donation has made.
QR Code
We recommend that the collection goals go in the church bulletin or on the website. Also include a QR code directly linked to the described goal. This helps someone who immediately feels called to give something. Whether that’s the people watching the service at home, or someone who missed a service.
By generating a specific QR code per cause, you as a dashboard user keep a clear view of which incoming donations are for which cause.
